Business Need / Purpose of Role

The Planner/Scheduler will report directly to the Rental Manager and will provide expertise in managing all rental projects. The Planner/Scheduler will also be responsible for the timely creation and updating of schedules and reports to support the Rental Manager and both the Sales and District Management teams. The Planner/Scheduler will work closely with the District Manager and upper management to align multiple schedules with the business objectives and to provide visibility to resource availability..

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and maintain operations schedules, including but not limited to:
      • Establishing schedule logic
      • Resource leveling
      • Updating operations schedules
      • Provide reports
      • Monitor schedule adherence
  • Create and maintain rental schedules in support of new projects
  • Monitors and facilitates the scheduling process from both the long and short term perspective to assure that capital portfolio goals are met
  • Maximizes the utilization of the rental fleet through the scheduling process
  • Provides reports, research, and problem solving skills for various groups on multiple projects
  • Provides analytical insight into project risks, risk thresholds, equipment requirements
  • Provides direct support to Rental Manager, District Operations and Sales with information obtained from customer updates and data
  • Advise Rental Manager, District Manager and Sales of schedule conflicts, resource limitations and associated risks
  • Manages scope, cost, and schedules by participating as an active project team member, developing project schedules, reviewing project cost estimates, developing project management plans, and coordinating project updates

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with oilfield rental equipment, specifically frac equipment or valves a definite asset.


Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP system experience a plus


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

PMP certificate as asset


Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.


Work Environment:

Moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
