Business Need / Purpose of Role

Responsible for the general management role of the facility including profit and loss. Business includes both manufacturing for Weir Pressure Pumping and Pressure Control products for the Canadian market as well as aftermarket service and repair of oil field and other related products. Responsible for sales, operations, customer satisfaction and quality.


Ensures compliance of company, safety, environmental and governmental policies and regulations. Develop operational, financial and business plans and budgets and manages facility performance. Takes appropriate action to ensure these plans are met. Develops and implement lean manufacturing and service processes and approaches within the facility. This position will directly and indirectly supervise up to 125 employees.



Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure a safe, productive and profitable business center that meets client needs and continually grows
  • Manages all day to day facility functions such as operations and administrative functions
  • Develops, implements and achieves annual business plan for the operation including profit and loss, growth and balance objectives for both manufacturing and aftermarket services business
  • Responsible for managing budgets and costs within the facility
  • Responsible for quality of all products, services and facility capability and cleanliness
  • Manage all warranty and scrap expenses
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction and meeting delivery requirements
  • Approves all facility expenditures in accordance to business plan and budget
  • Develop and implement capital spending plans to meet the ongoing needs of the business
  • In partnership with Human Resources assures that both short term and long term personnel needs of the operation are being met; this includes safety, selection and hiring, training, manpower planning, performance and motivation matters, career planning, development and terminations in accordance with company guidelines and approved business plans
  • Ensures that all employees follow health, safety and environment policies and protocols and receive proper training in the use of facility equipment
  • Ensures equipment is functioning properly and has proper safety guard
  • All incidents are investigated are reported upon with time frame set forth by the company
  • Monitors and ensures that safe driving practices are being used by all drivers using company vehicles in accordance with the established company Driving Protocols
  • Takes corrective action as appropriate
  • Ensures that company policies and practices are being compiled within the facility
  • Ensures compliance to government regulations in all facility activities and transaction
  • Develop and implement process improvements which continuously improves on time delivery, growth objectives and operational efficiencies
  • Establishes strong relationships with customers
  • Makes joint sales calls as required to ensure incoming business objectives are met and ongoing customer relations’ maintained; at times, this includes 30% to 50% of the managing director’s time
  • Provides regular communication and updates to all facility employees
  • Approves sales pricing, discounts and cost information for manufacturing and repair orders
  • Acts appropriately in front of customers to represent the company in a positive manner
  • Provides monthly written update of facilities operations and financial results

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

Accounting, Database, Design, Development, Inventory, Manufacturing, Order Processing, Project Management, Spreadsheet, Word Processing, Lotus Notes.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk on even and uneven surfaces. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Expectation of walking, sitting and standing. Work Environment:

Must be able to wear steel toed safety shoes and safety glasses. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is may be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
