Business Need / Purpose of Role

Under the direct mentorship and guidance from the Controller, Finance & Shared Services, this is an excellent opportunity to for a recently qualified CPA to further refine and broaden their financial toolkit in preparation for further career advancements.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Objectives:

  • Review and approve account reconciliations/entries prepared by the Senior Analysts, Accountants or other staff.
  • Perform non-routine, complex assignments and special projects involving the application of GAAP and requiring highly developed analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Assists with the preparation of quarterly forecasts and yearly budgets.
  • Interpret financial reports for management including variance analysis and KPI’s, while working collaboratively with all members of the finance team to efficiently achieve the desired results
  • Responsibility to oversee and streamline credit related issues and processes
  • Prepare financial and economic analysis and interpret results for the executive management team
  • Undertake special analytical studies including transfer pricing, the evaluation of current control environments and coordinating tax audits
  • Provide assistance and insight on treasury and corporate tax matters
  • Coordinate accounting and financial matters with other departments, locations and divisions
  • Provide excellent customer service in the capacity of a shared services environment

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Recently qualified CPA with experience from one of the Big 4 accounting firms. A good mix of cost/general accounting exposure in the manufacturing/distribution industry would be an asset. Excellent written, verbal communication, interpersonal skills and a true team player are essential. 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Communication Skills:

Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as required by lawExcellent self-motivation, organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.

 

Computer Skills:

Excellent computer skills along with literacy with Microsoft Excel and Word software are required.Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Cognos is an asset).

 

Work Environment:

Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while producing high quality, accurate, and meticulous work. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision as well as within a team is essential.
