    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    This role contributes to the cyclical financial planning and analysis processes within the organization, including forecast, budget, and interpretation of financial reports.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    The incumbent will be responsible for performing complex finance and accounting assignments requiring highly developed analytical skills, technical accounting knowledge and business acumen. Duties include but are not limited to:


    • Tracking actual sales results versus Budget/Forecast
    • Supplying relevant data for weekly sales review meetings
    • Participating in ongoing internal compliance testing
    • Preparing Journal Entries for various month end purposes
    • Completing Month End variance review and analysis
    • Monitoring cost/gross margin side for the large capital orders
    • Performing the loading of monthly financial data from local ERP software into the Group reporting software (Cognos) 
    • Assist in preparation of monthly reporting package 
    • Balance Sheet account reconciliations
    • Compiling sales and gross margin data for the quarterly forecast, working closely with Regional Sales Managers on trend and anomalies analysis
    • Loading of quarterly financial forecast data into the Group reporting software (Cognos)
    • Assist in preparation of the forecast reporting package (sales trends, bridges, etc)
    • Statutory reporting as per Group guidelines
    • Responsible for compiling sales and gross margin data for the annual budget (working closely with Regional Sales Managers, trend and anomalies analysis)
    • Responsible for the load of budget financial data to the Group reporting software (Cognos)
    • Assist in preparation of the budget reporting package (sales trends, bridges, etc)
    • Assisting Internal and External Auditors during Annual Financial and Compliance audits
    • Other duties as assigned

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Bachelors of Business Administration or Commerce (with a Finance and Accounting Focus) and a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in relevant finance and accounting roles. A good mix of cost accounting and general accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment would be an asset. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and a significant interest and ability to understand and question what is behind the numbers.


    Individual Characteristics: 
    Excellent self-motivation, organization, accuracy, and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while maintaining excellent composure and producing high quality, accurate, and meticulous work. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision as well as within a team is essential. Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to maintain a high level of ethical behaviour and confidentiality of information as required by law.



    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, financial reports, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


    Mathematical Skills:

    Exceptional ability to work with mathematical concepts and data relevant to financial statements, including probability and statistical inference, ratio, and calculations such as interest, proportions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills, including literacy with Microsoft Excel and Word software are required. Strong knowledge of ERP systems, and/or SAP or Movex accounting software.


    Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills: 
    Professional designation would be an asset, but is not required. The ideal candidate should be enrolled and demonstrated commitment to achieving a professional designation in the near future.


    Physical Requirements:
    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.


    Work Environment:
    The incumbent will operate within a generally quiet office environment, with light to moderate traffic and noise disturbances. If required, occasional visits to manufacturing sites will require appropriate PPE.
