    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Weir Minerals Canada requires a Hydro Testing Technician with experience to join our growing team, responsible for hydro testing products to standards in accordance with specifications. 

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Read Engineering blueprints and schematic CAD drawings to determinate work procedures when assembling and/or dismantling.
    • Assemble + install hardware for testing purposes using overhead cranes and forklifts.
    • Able to use large air powered tools to tighten hardware.
    • Must be able to safely perform in a fast paced environment.
    • Perform all duties while respecting and following safely procedures and using personal protective equipment.
    • Other duties as assigned.



    • 3-months probationary review.
    • Respecting the Weir Values (Support and Care, Integrity, Customers, Innovative Solutions and Quality).
    • Quality of workmanship, pride and ownership of dept.
    • Length of time taken complete assigned tasks and/or paper work.
    • Peer / supervisor feedback.

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


    Previous hydro testing an asset. Overhead crane and rigging.



    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions engineering drawings and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence.


    Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.


    Reasoning Ability: 

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardize situations.


    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  

    Forklift ticket

    Crane certification.


    Physical Demands: 

    Employee must be able to work while standing and/or sitting, and occasionally lifting equipment of up to 25 lbs. Ability to handle mechanical tools and measuring devices is required. Use of Personal protective Equipment is required in designated locations.


    Work Environment: 

    Environment may vary from moderate (warehouse/light traffic environment) to loud (manufacturing plant/customer-sites).
