    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Assembles, services, maintains, evaluates, repairs, and installs reciprocating plunger pumps to include but not limited to gear boxes, power end assemblies and fluid end assemblies and other associated equipment.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Assist in training employees in the role of Pump Refurb Mechanic Trainee, I, or II
    • Analyze blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and drawings to determine specifications
    • Troubleshoot, Disassemble, and Perform a detailed evaluation to determine repair needs and root cause analysis for the following:
        • TWS 2250
        • QWS 2500
        • TWS 2500
        • QEM 2500
        • TWS 250
        • TWS 400
        • TWS 600 short
        • TWS 600 standard
        • TWS 900
        • QWS 1000
        • BJ 3000
        • QWS 3500
      • Operate and utilize various hand and pneumatic tools
      • Submit list of corrective needs and associated materials
      • Clean and remove debris in preparation for re-assembly
      • Document serial numbers, part numbers and heat codes as required per SOP
      • Follow SOP’s for proper assembly while adhering to engineering specifications
      • Assemble all components ensuring alignment and proper fit before bolting, screwing or pressing them together
      • Install various moving parts such as plungers, pins and bearings making sure to test for free movement
      • Operate acetylene torch and perform hot work
      • Operate forklift to move materials between work centers.
      • Handle dry ice
      • Utilize all required PPE
      • Verify conformance to specifications
      • Maintain clean and safe work area
    Additional Lead/Senior Duties
    • Act as an expeditor, coordinator, and facilitator.  Take any appropriate action necessary to ensure a smooth and continuous production flow
    • Enforce safety rules and requirements
    • Oversee and maintain the overall appearance/cleanliness of the department
    • Select equipment and personnel and plan work flow
    • Act as a liaison with other departments as needed
    • Train new and existing employees on department procedures, job specifications, and demonstrates use of equipment
    • Assist department employees in resolving technical problems
    • Confer with technical personnel and managers to report and resolve problems
    • Escalate unresolved situations to their manager when appropriate
    • Report substandard equipment performance to Lead/Supervisor or Manager

    Measurements:  Safe, timely and accurate completion of assigned duties.  Continual learning and mentoring.

    Supervisory Responsibilities This position is likely to supervise 1-5 employees

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with at five to seven related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference given to candidates holding an HD Technician or Millwright Provincial Trade Certification


    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of an organization.


    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract  two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's,   Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Take measurements using precise measuring devices such as micrometers, ring and bore gauges. 


    Other Skills:

    Fork lift operator certified.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Machine shop environment.  Must be able to wear steel toed safety shoes with metatarsal protection and safety glasses, and hearing protection. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
