    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    The Service Engineer will, when needed with the support of the Sales Engineering Manager. It is responsible to translate the customers need into a functional solution, using Weir quality equipment. The Service Engineer is responsible for quoting customer OEM equipment. Project managing all Service repairs in FMM and or Calgary if required. The Service Engineer will provide all supporting documents to the Service Centre Techs, collect the data, formulate and provide a Quote/ETA of parts and repair to the customer. The AE/Service Engineer will be responsible for opening Valve service repair jobs in M3, providing the Regional Service Manager with “Cost/Sell/Margin” and fully disclose all issues related to the service repair. Must provide the final prelim to Regional Service Manager for approval before closing the job in M3. AE/Service Engineer will also cover the Calgary Service Centre Engineer when he or she is on vacation. This will include all Pump/equipment repairs, quoting and opening/closing jobs in M3/Job Log

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Develop intimate knowledge of the customer’s process and operation.
    • Available as required to attend key equipment outages, inspections and overhauls (may require weekend work).
    • Monitor and collect operating data and wear performance on our critical products.
    • Analyze operating and wear data, and provide inspection reports to Sales Management, Aftermarket Sales and Technology Centers
    • Working closely with Technology Center Engineering groups to develop wear and operating improvement plans for key products.
    • Provide technical information about our equipment to our customers.
    • Produce quotes to our customers. 
    • Work closely with Aftermarket Sales Account Managers to grow our business, through sales presentations, client meetings, etc. 
    • Provide monthly updates to Management and Operations Group on key component wear life/demand and customer maintenance outage schedules, to allow inventory alignment for each major customer. 
    • Secure and maintain site access passes to key customer locations.
    • Meet all Personal Business Objectives (PBO’s) inclusive to a Personal Development Plan (PDP) set in agreement with the Oil Sands Manager.

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education/Experience:
    Technical diplmoa or degree (Bachelors of Engineering of Engineering Technologist diploma), with 0 to 2 years of previous work experience, preferably with prior exposure to industrial, mining, or oil sands environments.

    Language:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures, professional journals, business communications, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of colleagues, clients, customers, and suppliers.

    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technicals instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills:
    Proficient use of Microsoft Office, including Excel or Spreadsheet knowledge. Auto CAS or other 3D modeling software would be an asset.

    Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:
    Student member or eligible to become a member at a Professional Engineering Association. Desire to pursue P Eng.

    Physical Requirements:
    The employee must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, as well as lift up to 15 pounds.

    Work Environment:
    Office environment.
